The Alder Forge 2 is a new role-playing game that builds on the story of the Fourth Squadron and their allies, two years after the events of the first game. The game features an enhanced adaptive turn-based combat system, with better controls and impact when switching between defensive, normal, and aggressive modes. Players can fuse multiple Anima-Stones to create a hybrid, inheriting all skills from the stones used in the fusion.

The game also includes enhanced crafting and weapons upgrades, with better equipment checking and amount control. Inspection points, puzzles, and case points have been added, allowing players to gain high rewards if the right choices are made. Party boosts and follow-ups are also available as a result of correct elemental pairing with enemies.

The story is set in 947 AGC, where the Orvysian invasion of Royne and the final battle between the Fourth Squadron and the Equilibrium have forced the Magna Lumen to emerge from the shadows. A violent conflict ensues between the Magna Lumen and the High Council, amplified by the destined clash between the nine remaining Knights of the Alder Forge and their respective Guardians.

In this world, commoners can rise to power through their skills and hard work, but traditional nobles are using the larger conflict to make a violent last stand. Other shadowy organizations are also using the chaos to further their hold on the politics and economics of this world. Players will experience events that shape the future of this world and learn about the Alder Forge's inner workings and functions in regards to what remains of the planet.
